Spoiler Warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

The Shifting Place is a mysterious jungle that appears in the dreams of Nothing. It has been briefly mentioned by both Sharptongue and Rain, and was the very top of the ancient Emerald Valley, which is currently, in reality, a wasteland.

Nothing began dreaming about the Shifting Place after getting injured in Quickmane's attack. Whenever she dreams of the Shifting Place, her scarred leg is healed, and Ghost, a mysterious lion, is always there. He seems concerned and fearful, always warning Nothing about something, whether it's a repeated message to answer the Shifting Place's call, or telling her she needs to remember her memories.

Description[]

The Shifting Place is said to be green every dry season, with a cold and clear river, huge trees, and a waterfall right in the middle. It's also said to shift, as its name implies; one day it would be in one place, and a completely different place the next.[4]

Appearances[]

"Episode 1: No-Mane"[]

After passing out due to her wounds, Nothing, who had no name at the time, found herself at the top of the Shifting Place's waterfall. Ghost was at the other side of the fall, trying to speak to her. However, the dream had no sound, and he could not be heard. Nothing woke up prior to Ghost's futile attempts.

"Episode 3: The Calling"[]

Dreaming, Nothing runs through the Shifting Place and to the top of the waterfall. On the other side was Ghost, telling her to answer the Shifting Place's calls, and that it was the only way it would end. Nothing is awoken by Hover before she can reply.
Later on, Sharptongue is telling a story about Sunce and Cansu, but is interrupted as she goes into a major coughing fit. Before death, she chokes out for Nothing to find the Shifting Place, where Sunce's eye is blind, and to end the cycle.

Episode 4: Outsider[]

Ghost appears from the grass and confronts Nothing and Feather for the first time outside of dreams. He tells them that something is shifting, demanding them to follow, which heavily implies that Ghost is trying to take Nothing to the Shifting Place.

Episode 6: Prideless[]

When Nothing and Feather are talking to Rain, she brings up the Shifting Place, to Nothing's astonishment. She talks about how it is green every dry season, has cool and clear rivers alongside very tall trees, and how there is a waterfall right in the middle of it. Feather exclaims that he wants to go there, and asks where it is. Rain ominously replies that it shifts like a mirage, and Feather is intrigued.

"Episode 10: Pride Law"[]

When Ghost arrives to retrieve Nothing, he takes her to the Shifting Place. Nothing questions if she is dreaming when she sees the jungle appear, and Ghost assures her that she is not. As soon as the pair enters, the Shifting Place is covered by sand and disappears.
