"Today, we have lost the... we have lost the wisest lioness I have ever known. We ask Asra to guide her spirit out of her body, so we may return it to the Earth. Huntresses! Let Asra hear your voices, so she may find our beloved Sharptongue in the dark." —Powerstrike about Sharptongue at her funeral in Episode 3: The Calling.
Sharptongue was an African lioness, Nothing, Fire, and Spark's grandmother, and the former Hunt Chief of Quickmane's Pride.
She debuted in Episode 1 and passed away in Episode 3.
Personality[]
- Sharptongue was shown to be a strict lioness who loved to tell the stories of the Goddesses, the start of Pride Law, and other historical events.[2]
- Sharptongue was seen to have gained lots of wisdom in her old age, and believed in the three sisters. As for her name, it could have been given to her due to the fact that she had a "sharp tongue", meaning that she was very sharp and strict with her words, perhaps in her younger age.[citation needed]

Appearances[]
Episode One: No-Mane[]
- Sharptongue is first seen telling her grandchildren the story of the great kingdoms and the beginning of Prides. Not long after, Powerstrike is seen calling her to go hunting, causing her to leave her grandchildren with their father, Starmane. After Quickmane defeats Starmane in combat, Sharptongue tells Powerstrike that the new Mane must co-exist with Nothing and Fire because Nothing had bested Quickmane in combat. She then tells Quickmane that if he harms the cubs, he'll have defied the Goddesses.[2]
Episode 2: Nothing[]
- Sharptongue appears at the beginning of the episode, asking Nothing if she was certain she did not want to select the name her mother had chosen for her, to which Nothing replies that she does not want to be called 'Hobblestep'. Sharptongue then watches Nothing perform her Huntress assessment. When Nothing fails, Powerstrike asks the Pride to lend their voices in favor of the name 'Nothing'. Sharptongue and Fire then glare at Powerstrike with a look of anger and disapproval, refusing to roar for their approval alongside the rest of the Pride. After the naming ceremony, she tries to console Nothing by telling her she was brave.[1]
Episode 3: The Calling[]
- Sharptongue lays on top of a large rock at the Sisters Steppe, seemingly more ill and tired than before. During the Pride meeting, she begins to cough, causing Powerstrike to be worried about her mother. After being asked if she is all right, Sharptongue does not answer directly and instead apologizes, asking Powerstrike to continue. While the Huntresses and Powerstrike go out to hunt and Quickmane goes out to scent his territory, Nothing and Sharptongue are ordered to stay behind to watch Quickmane and Waterhunter's cubs. Sharptongue begins telling the story of the sun Goddess, Sunce, and her fires in the Emerald Valley, but halfway through the story, she begins to cough again. When Nothing tells Sharptongue that she should rest, the lioness stares at her granddaughter in horror and tells her to find the Shifting Place, and to end the cycle. She then begins to cough violently as Nothing cries for help, and eventually collapses and succumbs to her illness. Later on, the Pride gathers around her dead body. The Huntresses call out to Asra so that she can take Sharptongue's spirit to the stars. Nothing expresses her grief for Sharptongue later on to Hover, which convinces Hover to join the Pride.[3]
Episode 4: Outsider[]
- Quickmane mentions Sharptongue to Nothing when he asks if he can trust her to look after his cubs without the latter's help.
Episode 5: Escape[]
- When a storm occurs during Nothing and Quickmane's fight, Silentstalk asks why it is raining during dry season, to which Powerstrike responds that Sharptongue was right about the Goddesses.
Episode 6: Prideless[]
- Sharptongue was mentioned briefly by Feather, before being mentioned directly by Nothing when her cousin asks her to tell a story. When Feather asks if Sharptongue is among among the stars with Asra, Nothing tells him that if Asra had heard the Pride’s call, then she is indeed with Asra.[6]
Relationships[]
Nothing[]
- Sharptongue cared very deeply for her granddaughter, often telling her stories as a cub She insisted on letting Nothing and her brother stay in the Pride with Quickmane to safe her life.[2] She refused to approve of the name Powerstrike gave her at her assessment, referring to her as "granddaughter" instead of Nothing for quite some time.[1] When she was sick, she helped Nothing watch over the Pride's cubs. Before she passed away, she gave an omen to Nothing to find the Shifting Place. She succumbed to her sickness next to her granddaughter, and was missed by the latter very much.[3]
