"I don't know why the Goddesses have punished us with you, but it ends now! You've always been a curse!" —Quickmane to Nothing after attacking her in Episode 5: Escape.
Quickmane was an African lion, the former Mane of Proudmane's Pride, and the father of Farleap and Silentstalk, Feather, Sister 1, and Sister 2.
As a No-Mane, he attacked Starmane for his Pride, and ended up unfairly winning the battle by catching him off-guard. Despite this, he was unsuccessful in killing the Mane's cubs, as Fire fled and Nothing fought back, scarring the left side of his face and blinding him.
Although the Pride's lionesses denied him as Mane at first, due to losing to a cub, he was eventually accepted, and had Farleap and Silentstalk with Powerstrike, and Feather, Sister 1, and Sister 2 with Waterhunter. He spent his life as Mane despising Fire and Nothing, leading to his death as he was killed by Proud while trying to kill Fire.
Personality[]
- Quickmane was proven to be vicious and dangerous,[5][2] though he respected lionesses he found worthy.[6] He took pleasure in killing Starmane and Spark, and smiled after dropping Starmane's dead body, wich shows his sadistic nature.[2] He had a very short temper and often lashed out at anyone who challenged him. He could be very cruel and mean, especially toward Nothing and Fire, the cubs he failed to kill after murdering Starmane and Spark.[5] He bullied the lionesses frequently throughout his life.[5]
- Despite his behavior towards Nothing, he cares deeply about his own cubs, as he was outraged at Nothing leaving his daughters alone and taking Feather with her.[5] Quickmane also asked Nothing and Hover to leave Powerstrike alone after the death of Sharptongue, showing respect and care for the Hunt Chief.[6] Quickmane was also slightly lenient with Pride Law, as he allowed Hover to stay despite the fact that she and Nothing were in a romantic relationship.[7]

Appearances[]
Episode 1: No-Mane[]
- Quickmane roars to call Starmane to fight, then injures Starmane's foreleg, causing the latter to run away. Quickmane runs back to him, and they circle each other menacingly. When Starmane tries to attack, Quickmane lunges at him and strangles him. He grabs Starmane by the neck bites down hard on it, killing him.
- He hears Starmane's cubs in the tall grass and sees Spark looking up at him in terror. He grabs him and crushes him to death brutally. He walks over to Nothing to kill her, too, but the lioness jumps in his face and rips out his eye. He scars Nothing's face and leg and throws her against a tree. Thinking she is dead, he makes his way to the Sisters Steppe, wailing in pain while he completely ignores the bodies. Then he is seen arguing with Powerstrike and Sharptongue, who say that Quickmane and the cubs have to co-exist.
Episode 2: Nothing[]
- Quickmane interrupts Nothing and Sharptongue's conversation to start her huntress assessment, adding that it's disrespectful to keep the Pride waiting. When Nothing runs for her assessment, he taunts her alongside Farleap and calls her "Slugrun", due to her slow speed. After Nothing fails the assessment, he orders Fire to leave the Pride.
- That evening he is seen again, telling Hover to leave his territory and yelling at her, growling when Hover insults his appearance.
Episode 3: The Calling[]
- Quickmane is seen at the Pride meeting next to Powerstrike. He starts by saying that there are No-Manes in the territory, and in order to keep them out, he will have extra perimeter checks. He then leaves with the rest of the Pride to hunt. While Nothing babysits Feather and his sisters alongside Sharptongue, he asks if Nothing can re-tell the story of how she ripped out Quickmane's eye, which Nothing shuts down. His sisters call him strange, commenting how it was serious, as their dad said that Nothing was possessed by a demon, but Feather insists that it was brave, and that he would do the same thing.
- Later on, he's seen at Sharptongue's funeral, toughing up as the lionesses roar to Asra. When Nothing takes Hover with her to ask if she could join the Pride, Quickmane orders Nothing to get the lioness out of there, but Powerstrike stops him and lets Hover join if she takes a huntress evaluation. Quickmane is still hostile towards the lionesses, but calmly tells them to give her space while she is grieving.
Episode 4: Outsider[]
- Quickmane approaches Nothing alongside Waterhunter and Powerstrike with his cubs, asking her to look after them while he hunts with Powerstrike and Waterhunter. He briefly growls at her when Nothing remarks that she can handle taking care of the cubs without Sharptongue's help, then makes Nothing aware to bring the cubs for Hover's assessment at the height of Sunce's eye, before leaving.
- Quickmane is later on mentioned by Feather to have been attacked by Nothing as a cub, and the members of Fire's No-Mane band find it impressive. Proud questions this, especially about how Quickmane is half-blind, and finds it intruiging.
Episode 5: Escape[]
- Quickmane jumps in and saves Nothing and Feather from Ghost with the help of his lionesses. After driving him away, he draws his attention towards Nothing for taking his son beyond the safety of the Sisters Steppe and later discovers Fire was there. He yells at Nothing and scars her again, making her bleed. He then runs away from Nothing, looking for Fire, because the Goddesses won't let him kill her. Nothing yells out his name, hoping he would return. To her horror, she trips over his body. She discovers that Proud was the one who killed him, which makes him the new Mane of the Pride.
Episode 9: Fire[]
- Quickmane briefly appears in a flashback when Fire explains how he got his scar. Quickmane had bitten him on the shoulder as he attempts to kill him, before Proud jumps at him from Quickmane's blind side and attacks him. Tangle helped Fire escape.
- He also later appears in a flashback that Nothing has when Fire attacks Barkmane, as Nothing freezes in horror at the parallels of Barkmane and Starmane's deaths.
Relationships[]
Powerstrike[]
- "Can't you see your mother's in pain?! Get your flea-bag out of here, and let Powerstrike rest!"
- —Quickmane defending Powerstrike as she grieves Episode 3: The Calling
- Quickmane loved and respected Powerstrike,[1] giving her space and comfort, even defending her when Nothing and Hover entered to talk about Hover joining the Pride after Sharptongue passed away.[6]
Waterhunter[]
- Quickmane seemed to like Waterhunter, although not as much as Powerstrike.[6] He is shown to care for the cubs they had together, despite not being as close with the lioness as the latter.[5]
Nothing[]
- Quickmane: "How dare you?"
- Nothing: "I'm sorry."
- Episode 5: Escape
- Quickmane hated Nothing.[1][5] He was wary of her because she ripped out his eye, causing him to believe that she was either possessed or a demon.[5] He is often seen being passive aggressive or bullying the lioness.[1][6] When she wandered away with Fire and Feather beyond the Sisters Steppe, Quickmane was so angry that he attacked Nothing and intended to kill her until it began to rain.[5] The only time Quickmane showed kindness to her was when he allowed Hover to stay despite knowing about their relationship being against Pride Law.[7]
Farleap and Silentstalk[]
- Quickmane seemed to favor Farleap and Silentstalk, much like Powerstrike.[9] He seems to respect his daughters, even prideful, and the three seem to like bullying Nothing.[1]
Hover[]
- Quickmane didn't seem to like Hover,[1][6] shown that he didn't enjoy her personality or how she insulted his face.[1] However, he was lenient enough to allow her in the Pride, despite being aware of her romantic relationship with Nothing.[7]
Feather, Sister 1 and Sister 2[]
- Despite Quickmane's brutality, he did care deeply for his children, including Feather.[5] After Quickmane defeats Ghost, he asks Feather if he's okay and nuzzles him, telling him that he was incredibly worried, and even attacking Nothing for being careless with his children.[5]
