"That's because Lite was the only one left to tell the story. He told it, and told it, and when the kingdoms fell, he built Pride Law out of his hate and fear." —Rain about Lite and the legends in Episode 8: Rain.
Lite was a male African lion, and an ancient chosen leader of the Sun Kingdom. He was the last known leader of the Sun Kingdom before it fell.
Personality[]
- Lite was portrayed as brave and heroic in the legends.[2] Before the war, Lite was kind, charismatic, and hopeful, but he soon became cold-hearted and brutal after learning about Kyoga's affair. Lite was bitterly hurt when she left him in favor of Karabi. In response, he accused Karabi of kidnapping Kyoga and started the war that would later destroy the three kingdoms. Following Karabi's death and Kyoga's departure, Lite lied and convinced the serving lions that Karabi was the bad guy through a series of vile slanders. Lite had also become homophobic as a result of Kyoga's rejection, so he made romantic relationships between lionesses forbidden within Pride Law.[1]

Appearances[]
- Lite grew up close to Kyoga, and developed strong romantic feelings for her. In an attempt to end tensions between the Sun Kingdom and the Moon Kingdom, the two were betrothed to each other to bring a newfound peace. However, unknown to Lite, Kyoga was in a romantic relationship with a lioness named Karabi. The day before their joining ceremony, Karabi and Kyoga eloped in order to live their lives the way they wanted to, without telling Lite.
- The morning of the joining ceremony, Lite had lions out looking for Kyoga, believing her to be killed or kidnapped, until a lioness named Precisecharge reported Kyoga's status. He refused to believe that Kyoga would run away despite Precisecharge telling him Kyoga made it clear it was what she wanted. Instead, he believed that Karabi had kidnapped her. This caused him to wage a war between the Storm Kingdom and the Sun Kingdom, causing death to many innocent lives on both sides.
- He was then invited to a secret meeting by Karabi and Kyoga, where the lioness finally admitted that she had never loved him as a mate, and her heart had always belonged to Karabi. He was heartbroken and angry at hearing this, believing she had loved him romantically and not only as a friend. He tried to get closer to Kyoga, but Karabi attacked him, snapping how he was a monster and needed to be killed. Kyoga begged her not to, because even though he had committed terrible actions, Lite was her friend and she could not watch him be killed. Karabi let him up and returned to Kyoga. Crazed at this point, Lite took the chance and attacked her from behind, slitting Karabi's neck, which mortally wounded her. Heartbroken by how it all unfolded, Kyoga (possessed by the goddess Asra) cursed Lite and all of his reincarnations, telling him that she would always be the one to kill him before disappearing with Karabi's body. Lite was shocked by what happened. When he returned to the broken kingdoms, he lied about what happened, claiming that Karabi had killed Kyoga that and he had avenged her death by killing her.
- He then went on to make Prides and Pride Law, which were centered around male lions, and included outlawing same-sex relationships. In the stories told by generations, he was characterized as a brave and noble lion who killed the evil and cruel Karabi.
Relationships[]
Karabi[]
- It is unknown what Karabi and Lite's relationship was before the war, but after learning of how Kyoga had supposedly left to join with her, Lite grew an incredibly strong hatred for the lioness and vowed to save his love. During their confrontation on the highest peak of the Emerald Valley, Karabi grows defensive of Kyoga and pins Lite down, intending to kill him via strangulation. But when Kyoga begs for her to let him go, Karabi feels sympathy for her and lets him live. When her back is turned, Lite seizes his chance and slashes his enemy's throat. Karabi bleeds out; Lite claims his actions were justified, and that Karabi was crazy. Furious, Kyoga places a curse on Lite in the form of Asra, then disappears with her mate’s corpse. Confused and bitter, Lite tells the Pride that Karabi had killed Kyoga and that he then avenged her by destroying her; making her seem like a villainous lioness. He then created Pride Law, forbidding homosexual relationships between lionesses.
Kyoga[]
- Kyoga and Lite were originally very close friends who grew up together. They were promised to each other as mates, and Lite loved her very dearly romantically, but unknown to him at the time, she did not feel the same way about him. However, after learning that Kyoga had left with Cansu's Chosen, Karabi, Lite immediately suspected that it was a lie and that the lioness had instead kidnapped his mate. He grew a strong hatred for her due to this belief and began a war with the Storm Kingdom in an attempt to rescue Kyoga, refusing to believe that she was safe and did not want to be saved. When Kyoga confessed that she did not love him romantically, and he becomes confused and heartbroken, even becoming possessive of Kyoga. Karabi attacks and tries killing him, but Kyoga manages to stop her. However, in his crazed state, he slit Karabi's throat and she becomes mortally wounded. Distressed by this, Kyoga becomes possessed by the goddess Asra and curses Lite. He and his reincarnations were to suffer, being killed by Kyoga's reincarnations in every lifetime.
