Feather is an African lion, Nothing's cousin, and the deuteragonist of My Pride.

He was born to Quickmane and Waterhunter at the Sisters Steppe, alongside his two nameless sisters, Sister 1 and Sister 2.

After a No-Mane called Proud killed his father and sisters, Nothing was exiled from the Pride, and Feather unknowingly followed her into exile. He and Nothing became Prideless to find Fire on the Prideless Stretch.

When his other cousin, Fire, tried to kill him in order to claim a Pride, Feather faked his death and got away while Nothing and Fire fought, but was too late, as Nothing had already entered the Shifting Place with Ghost.

Personality

Feather is very cheerful, energetic, and likes the stories his grandmother, Sharptongue told him. He likes the story of when Nothing clawed out Quickmane's eye. He seems to like things he finds brave, such as Nothing ripping out his father's eye, disregarding the strange looks he gets from his sisters. He dreamed of being a great lion, very strong, muscular, and a great warrior. He thinks of becoming a great Mane and having many members in his Pride.

Feather is also shown to be smart, as he realized that the only reason why Nothing was keeping him away from the Pride was because Quickmane and his sisters were killed, and despises Pride Law because of its cruelty. As a teenager, Feather became clever, and had a great mind for strategy, but was also bitter and protective at times.

Cub

As a cub, Feather had a reddish-beige pelt and a lighter shade on his underbelly, paws, muzzle, inner-ears, lower eye rim, and the feather-shaped marking on his forehead. He had bright blue eyes, his mane and tail tip are brownish-red, like his father and his grandfather. His eyelids are the same color.

Teen

In his early teens, his mane started growing more around his neck and cheeks, with his top part of the mane growing longer, and receiving sideburns.

Relationships

Quickmane and Waterhunter

Feather seemed to love his parents, at points acting like Quickmane and looking up to him. He thought he could talk to Quickmane about Nothing taking him away from the Sisters Steppe, thinking he won't get mad at him. He was deeply heartbroken after learning about his father's death.

Sister 1 and Sister 2

Feather and his sisters genuinely cared about each other, but Feather's sisters sometimes found him strange for liking the stories of Nothing, where she blinded Quickmane in one eye years ago. Feather was heartbroken after learning about their deaths.

Fire

Feather seemed to look up to Fire, thinking his cousin was cool when he was a cub. In his teens, Feather seemed to strongly dislike Fire for trying to change Nothing's name and wanting to kill someone. He then saves Fire, but not for Fire himself, as he said he attacked Barkmane to save Nothing. However, this changes when Fire betrays his cousin and almost murders him in order to be accepted as Mane.

Nothing

Feather: "I don't like that [Fire] wants to get rid of your name."

Nothing: "How come?"

Feather loves Nothing to the point where he travels with her, away from the Sisters Steppe. He thinks it's cool that his cousin ripped out his father's eye, and likes Nothing for her personality, and, unlike many others in his former Pride, doesn't mind the fact that she's disabled. He insists that her name has become who she is, and that it no longer represents her mother's ableist intentions. Feather states that her name is what she's afraid of, nothing. Nothing was devastated when Feather was presumably killed by her brother.

Farleap and Silentstalk

Feather used to dislike Farleap, as he was seen sticking his tongue out at her when she was making fun of Nothing at her huntress assessment. However, as he got older, he seemed look up to both of his half-sisters, and the two lionesses look after him. Silentstalk also said to have taught Feather how to track.

Proudmane

Feather and Proud were on good terms when they first met at The Prideless Stretch, but after learning that Proud used him for information and was the murderer of his father and sisters, he developed a lot of hatred against him and swears that he'll change it once he becomes a Mane.

Episode 2: Nothing

As Nothing's naming ceremony was about to begin, Feather can be seen near the bottom right of the screen, sticking his tongue out at Farleap for being mean to Nothing.

He is seen after the naming ceremony, sitting next to his mother and sisters and telling Fire "Cansu light your path."

Episode 3: The Calling

Feather asking Nothing to tell the story about Quickmane's scar again

Feather is seen sitting with his sisters and asks Nothing to tell how she scratched up his father's face again. Nothing refuses, so Sharptongue starts to tell about Sunce's great fires in the Emerald Valley instead. He witnesses Sharptongue coughing and wheezing before she dies. He is later seen at his grandmother's funeral next to his father while all the lionesses start to roar. He tries to imitate his father's serious posture but ends up looking goofy in the end.

Episode 4: Outsider

Feather is seen being taken by his mother, Waterhunter, to Nothing. He stays with his sisters, sleeping while Nothing watches them, as ordered by Quickmane. When Nothing goes to see her brother, Fire, he wakes up and follows her. He ends up scaring her and Fire as he goes through the bushes. When Nothing asks him how he managed to find her, he replies that Silentstalk had taught him to track, and Nothing picks him up and says she's taking him back to the Sisters Steppe.

Fire interrupts her and says that he wanted her to meet his friends, and she asks if it's safe for Feather, which he assures it is. A while later, they arrive, and Fire introduces his friends; Proud, Root, Meadow, Scruffy, Stub, and Tangle. Feather gets excited when they then meet Proud and Tangle, and Nothing talks with Fire until Feather tells Proud and Tangle about what Nothing did to his father's face. Proud and Tangle are surprised about what she did, and they say that nobody would ever have the courage to do that to a No-Mane. Nothing then realizes the time, and then goes out with Feather to the Pride, when they were already in the group's territory, a white lion comes out of the tall grass, and Feather is scared because he has never seen a No-Mane. Nothing protects him, and he sees Nothing fight with the lion until Ghost gets angry and gets up, scaring Nothing and Feather.

Episode 5: Escape

Feather's last moment with his father Quickmane, before he died

Feather was seen at first behind Nothing scared of Ghost, when Quickmane appears and jumps at the No-Mane. After the whole Pride appears, Waterhunter grabbed Feather by the scruff and took him to the Pride with his sisters. In the end of the episode, he was seen running over to Nothing, telling her they should go back and talk things over with his dad. Nothing saves Feather from a huge tree branch that almost falls on him. He is then seen walking over a hill in The Prideless Stretch in search of Fire.

Episode 6: Prideless

Feather snuggling Nothing

During their journey through The Prideless Stretch, Nothing and Feather were barely able to walk as they lost Fire's trail the previous night. When Nothing kills a bird and Feather moves towards it to eat, Nothing snarls at him. However, she quickly apologizes and lets him eat. During the night, Feather asks her to tell him a story and Nothing ends up telling her the story about Asra and her mortal mate. When Nothing is done with the story, he reveals that he knows that his father, and his sisters are all dead. When Nothing tells him that Proud was the one who killed them, Feather shows a deep hatred towards him and for Pride Law and swears that he will change it when he becomes a Mane. When they wake up the next morning, Nothing and Feather see a Prideless lioness to whom Nothing mistook for Hover. However, she was someone else. The Prideless lioness, called Rain takes Nothing and Feather to a nearby watering hole. When Nothing was called to talk to Rain in private, she offered Nothing to teach her how to survive if she left Feather. Nothing ended up refusing. When Rain revealed about The Shifting Place, Feather was excited to know about it. As the lioness leaves, she ended up revealing her name to be Rain. Nothing later tells Feather that he needs to learn how to hunt as it is becoming hard for her to hunt for both of them. Feather says with a smile that she can count on him.

Episode 7: Hover

Feather is briefly and indirectly mentioned by Rain when she tells Hover and Farleap that Nothing was also taking care of a cub. Farleap responds, saying that Nothing doesn't have cubs.

Episode 8: Rain

Feather was seen sleeping, getting disturbed by Nothing telling him that it's raining. He was seen sleeping in the end of the episode as well.

Episode 9: Fire

Feather was shown hunting with Nothing on the Stretch at the start of the episode. After Feather had frightened the gazelle and Nothing was about to attack, Fire came and killed the gazelle. After Nothing and Fire were finished talking, Feather was seen to be suspicious of Fire, as Feather didn’t seem to really like Fire and his plans and came with constant comments about his ideas. He told Nothing to come with him so that he could discuss what he was worried about including the murder attack on Barkmane. When Nothing froze during the battle between Fire and Barkmane, Feather ran up and jumped on Barkmane’s face, scratching him which gave Fire the advantage, which also resulted in Feather assisting Fire in killing Barkmane. Feather was later seen in the episode standing beside Nothing being worried after Moonstrike had told Fire to kill Feather.

Episode 10: Pride Law

Feather was seen hiding behind Nothing, and is told to run when she realizes that Fire is going to kill him. Feather runs as fast as he can, but Fire catches up to him quickly and supposedly kills him. Nothing yells how about Fire could kill him after he saved his life, to which the latter defends himself stating that they need a Pride to live in.

We see Feather again in a post-end credits scene, running after Nothing's paw tracks, calling out her name and saying that he was only faking his death. He halts as he comes towards the end of her tracks, looking around and calling out her name a few more times.

Interesting Facts

• Originally, Feather was a very small, fat cub, his fur was a stronger red, his eyes were light blue and he had two small dots on the side of his eyes. He also had a smaller mane.
